Bay FC adds another young American player in deal with Angel City
Bay FC made another move Wednesday to add young talent, acquiring midfielder Kennedy Fuller from Angel City.
In exchange for Fuller and an international roster spot, Bay sent $500,000 in intraleague transfer funds and $20,000 in allocation money to its Los Angeles-based rival.
Fuller, 19, was a finalist for U.S. Soccer’s Young Player of the Year award in 2024 and has two goals and two assists in 11 games for Angel City so far this season.
Her addition gives coach Emma Hayes a midfielder even younger than Claire Hutton, the 20-year-old U.S. national team midfielder acquired from Kansas City earlier this year.
"From my conversations with Emma and the staff, it was clear that this is an environment where players are challenged to grow and reach their potential,” Fuller said in a team statement. “I’m looking forward to learning from my teammates, connecting with the fans and doing everything I can to help the team compete for championships.”
Fuller has also captained the U.S. Under-20 team in her time on international duty. Over three seasons with Angel City, she has 56 appearances and 39 starts.
“Her creativity and quality on the ball make her a joy to watch and will add to our attack,” Hayes said. “What is most exciting is the room she has to continue developing, and I believe she has a very bright future ahead of her at Bay FC.”
Bay FC is currently two points behind Angel City in the NWSL standings, sitting in 13th place with 11 points in 11 games.
The team is in the midst of a season pause as the men’s World Cup has taken over venues across the United States, but Bay will return to play July 5 at Boston Legacy FC.
