Victor Wembanyama Visits Children's Hospital After NBA Finals Loss
Victor Wembanyama was in a giving spirit following the NBA Finals loss to the New York Knicks on Saturday night.
The Knicks fell to the Spurs in Game 5 in San Antonio. New York took the series, 4-1, winning the franchise's first championship since 1973. Knicks star point guard Jalen Brunson was named the NBA Finals MVP.
Wembanyama, who was coming off a thrilling Western Conference Finals win over the Oklahoma City Thunder, had a disappointing showing in the NBA Finals. The Spurs took several big leads early, but couldn't hold on late, blowing several fourth quarter leads. Wembanyama is taking a lot of heat for his performance in the fourth quarter of those games, too.
But despite the NBA Finals loss - and the heat he's receiving on social media - Wembanyama pulled a very classy move and visited a Children's Hospital over the weekend.
Two Spurs players, Victor Wembanyama and Julian Champagnie, were seen visiting a San Antonio children's hospital.
Video has surfaced online.
It was reportedly Wembanyama's idea
Wembanyama reportedly wanted to make the visit before he leaves the United States and heads back to France, where he'll spend the offseason.
"I can confirm it was Wemby's idea. Last Saturday, after the loss, he asked if he could visit a children's hospital before heading back to France," Maxime Aubin reported on Monday evening, June 15.
It's a classy move from Wembanyama, who is still quite young and coming off just his third NBA season.
The Spurs had a difficult finish to the year, but hopes will remain quite high heading into the 2026-27 regular season.
