New Giannis Antetokounmpo Trade Report Delivers Bad News for Celtics
The Boston Celtics enter the NBA offseason with many rumors circulating around their roster after they were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs.
Of course, Boston finished as the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference but they were unable to make it past the first round of the playoffs after they blew a 3-1 lead to the Philadelphia 76ers.
Because of this, there has been speculation that Boston will look to make major changes this offseason, which could see them break up their star duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown with Brown being in trade rumors.
Boston has also been linked to Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo as it has been reported that they have made offers for the star forward, though they received disappointing news regarding a potential trade after a report was released Monday.
Celtics Receive Disappointing News Regarding Potential Giannis Trade
On Monday, ESPN's Brian Windhorst appeared on "Get Up" where he reported that Giannis' preferred trade destination this offseason is the Miami Heat.
"Talks have intensified over the last 7-10 days. He has focused on wanting to be a member of the Miami Heat and because he's only got one year on his contract, he has some control over that," Windhorst said. "But the Heat and Bucks have been talking for months and have not agreed to a deal because the Bucks don't love the Heat's offer."

This is a major report by Windhorst and one that may not bode well for the Celtics' pursuit of the two-time MVP as it appears as though he wants to be traded to the Heat.
Of course, it has been reported that the Celtics have been interested in Giannis and with Brown potentially being on the trade block, Boston could center a package around their star guard to offer to Milwaukee.
So far, the Bucks have not been enticed by the Celtics' trade offers but Windhorst also reported that Milwaukee has not shown much interest in Miami's offers.
Because of this, Boston could still put together a more enticing offer if they are able to find a third team to complete a deal, though Giannis will likely have a say with him entering the final year of his contract.
Either way, the Heat appear to be the frontrunner in the Giannis trade sweepstakes, though the Celtics may still be a team to watch if Milwaukee and Miami are unable to get a deal done.
