Victor Wembanyama's Confident Take Ahead of NBA Finals Game 5

The San Antonio Spurs and New York Knicks will face off in Texas on Saturday for Game 5 of the NBA Finals.

The Knicks won the first two games of the series in San Antonio before splitting the next two games at Madison Square Garden. Now, the Knicks have a chance to hoist the Larry O'Brien trophy on the road if they win Game 5.

Game 4 was a classic, as the Knicks overcame a 29-point deficit to win the game on a putback by OG Anunoby that sent Madison Square Garden into an absolute frenzy.

Anunoby and Jalen Brunson combined for 69 points in the win on Wednesday, which marked the biggest comeback in NBA Finals history.

However, despite the Spurs being on the brink of elimination, Victor Wembanyama had nothing but confidence.

"Everybody knows we're gonna do it," Wembanyama said. "I think it'd be a mistake to waste our energy on multiple games. It's one game at a time."

The Spurs have battled the entire series. They lost Game 1 by 10, then lost Game 2 by one point as Wembanyama missed a jumper in the final seconds.

Wembanyama has scored at least 24 points in all four games during the NBA Finals, including a 24-point, 13-rebound performance in Game 4.

Even with the Spurs' backs against the wall, Wembanyama is confident.

And, he revealed why he still has full belief in San Antonio to make a comeback.

"The ability, first and foremost. The fact that we've proven game after game that nobody beats us - we beat ourselves. The confidence comes from knowing that our destiny is in our own hands," Wembanyama said, via Maxime Aubin of L'Equipe.

Overcoming a 3-1 NBA Finals deficit is incredibly difficult. The only team to accomplish this feat was the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016, when LeBron James and Kyrie Irving led the way to a stunning win over the Golden State Warriors.

If Wembanyama can lead the Spurs to that type of a comeback, it would be a stunning collapse by the Knicks and would go down as one of the most memorable NBA Finals in recent history.
