Phillies Make Kyle Schwarber Request Ahead Of All-Star Game
Kyle Schwarber is a three-time all-star. In last year's game, the renowned power hitter secured the win for the National League by hitting a home run on all three swing-off hacks.
Approaching the midseason festivities in 2026, Schwarber is once again a prime candidate to be selected for the team.
The game happens to be in his own stomping grounds at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. It's not often that you get to see a player as good as Schwarber get a chance to play in front of his home crowd during All-Star week.
The 33-year-old signed back with Philadelphia this past winter on a five-year, $150 million contract. This is a massive salary for a primary designated hitter, but the numbers certainly back up its worth.
In 65 games this season, Schwarber is slashing .239/.358/.575 with a .933 OPS. He's already belted 24 home runs and has 42 RBIs.
The 24 home runs are the most in MLB, leading Houston's Yordan Alvarez by two. Schwarber's .575 slugging percentage ranks third.
There's no doubt about him deserving a selection to this year's National League All-Star team. The Phillies social media team took to X on Thursday to promote his candidacy.

In all likelihood, Schwarber will be the second DH to get voted in behind Shohei Ohtani. There's not much Phillies fans can do when matched up with Ohtani's international fame and influence. It's even possible that the Dodgers superstar will get the start on the mound as well.
Schwarber has helped Philadelphia stay in their competitive window this year. At 37-31, the Phillies still have some work to do in the standings. They are eight games back of the first-place Atlanta Braves in the National League East.
The club will need every ounce of Schwarber's heroics in the second half of the season if they are to make a postseason push.
