Knicks Linked To Giannis Antetokounmpo Trade During The NBA Finals
The Milwaukee Bucks don't appear to be in a rush to part ways with franchise superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo.
It seems like the Bucks and Antetokounmpo have been heading towards a breakup since the start of the 2025-26 season. The "Greek Freak" missed significant time this year due to injury, but he still averaged 27.6 points and 9.8 rebounds per game when healthy. Now, he's ready to take his talents elsewhere for the first time in his NBA career.
"Giannis' situation has been playing out for 12 months. The Milwaukee Bucks are officially open for business. They're getting teams' best offers between now and the NBA Draft," ESPN insider Shams Charania said. "Giannis, for a period of months, has made it clear to the Bucks that he believes the time has come for both sides to part ways."
Despite all the rumors surrounding Antetokounmpo, fans may have to wait another week or two for a deal to go down.
According to Jake Fischer and Marc Stein, "there is an increasing belief" around the league that Milwaukee is waiting until the NBA Finals to finish before completing a trade involving Antetokounmpo.
If the New York Knicks blow a 2-0 series lead in the NBA Finals, they might be interested in trading for the two-time MVP.
Where will Giannis end up?
Antetokounmpo has been linked to a plethora of teams over the past month, including the Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors and Miami Heat.
"I don't think it will be long before you start to hear Cavs attached to Giannis," ESPN's Brian Windhorst said. "If they put Evan Mobley on the table, as hard as that would be, Evan Mobley is in his mid-20s. When they drafted Evan Mobley, they drafted him to be another Giannis. What if they could turn him into Giannis with Harden and Donovan Mitchell on the roster? They have not crossed that bridge yet, but that is something that they may have to consider, especially as we lead up to the draft and the Bucks get serious about listening to offers for Giannis."
ESPN's Bobby Marks mentioned the Boston Celtics as a dark-horse suitor for Antetokounmpo, albeit a deal between them and the Bucks seems unlikely at this time.
