Colts' Jonathan Taylor Delivers Clear Message About His NFL Future
Jonathan Taylor is entering the final season of his current contract with the Indianapolis Colts.
Taylor entered the NFL as the Colts’ No. 41 overall pick in the 2020 draft and has been with Indianapolis ever since. He’s put together some incredible seasons with the franchise, including last year’s campaign that saw him record a league-leading 18 rushing touchdowns.
Taylor has no intention of leaving Indianapolis at any point in his NFL career.
“I would definitely love to be a Colt for life,” Taylor said when asked if he hopes to secure a contract extension before the 2026 season.
“I’ve already expressed that to them throughout the years,” he continued. “Hopefully they feel the same, because this is a special place.”

Taylor showed how truly effective he can be with a full schedule in 2025. After dealing with a variety of injury issues from 2022-24, the 27-year-old running back played all 17 regular-season games this past season. This marked the first time he’d played a full regular-season schedule since 2021, when he led the league in rushing yards (1,811), rushing touchdowns (18) and yards from scrimmage (2,171).

Taylor was asked if the two sides are building momentum toward a contract extension.
“Hopefully so. Hopefully so,” Taylor responded, via NFL.com. “But at this time, we are in minicamp, trying to work on getting better, obviously still preparing with the body, gotta hit the training hard. Like I said, I’ve already expressed that I want to be a Colt for life, even throughout the years. So hopefully they feel the same, Indianapolis, not only, like, the team but the city, is a special place.”
