Huntington Beach baseball advances to CIF SoCal Regional final

Huntington Beach will play in the CIF Southern California Regional Division I baseball championship game Saturday.

The Oilers beat Corona, 11-3, in a Division I semifinal Thursday at Corona High.

Dane Cunningham and Max Hopkins homered for the Oilers, Owen Bone hit a triple and drove in two runs and Jared Grindlinger had two hits, including a triple.

Huntington Beach (24-8-1) will play Saturday at 4 p.m. against the winner of the other Division I semifinal Friday between Cathedral Catholic of San Diego and La Mirada.

Huntington Beach is the home team Saturday if Cathedral Catholic wins. La Mirada is the home team if La Mirada wins.

The SoCal Regional Division I final is scheduled for Saturday at 4 p.m., but that starting time could change.

Huntington Beach won the SoCal Regional Division I championship in 2022.
