Matt LaFleur Addresses Josh Jacobs' Packers Status
Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs made headlines for all the wrong reasons last week, and his off-field issue remains unresolved from a legal standpoint.
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur doesn’t have much to add.
"I'm going to stick with the statement we put out as an organization and just let the process play out,” LaFleur said to start his media availability at the Packers’ OTA on Tuesday, per Packers Wire.
Jacobs, 28, was present for the Packers’ OTA, and LaFleur described his participation as “business as usual,” per ESPN’s Rob Demovsky.
Jacobs began his NFL career as the then-Oakland Raiders’ 24th overall draft pick in 2019. The Alabama alum eclipsed 1,000 rushing yards in each of his first two seasons, and he catapulted into the best running back in the league conversation with a breakout 2022 campaign, leading the league with 1,653 rushing yards.
The Packers signed Jacobs to a four-year contract as an unrestricted free agent in March 2024. Jacobs posted 1,329 yards and 15 touchdowns on 301 rushing attempts across 17 regular-season games in the 2024 season.
Last season, Jacobs played through a knee injury last season and managed to play in 15 regular-season games. He posted 929 yards and 13 touchdowns on 234 rushes. He rushed for 55 yards on 19 attempts in the Packers’ 31-27 loss to the Chicago Bears in the NFC Wild Card in January.
