Cause Of Death Announced For Legendary NHL Star Claude Lemieux
A cause of death has been announced for former NHL star Claude Lemieux.
Lemieux, a legendary NHL star who played for six different teams over 21 seasons, died this week, the league announced. Lemieux had been in attendance at a Stanley Cup playoff game earlier this week. His death has shaken the NHL and sports world.
"The NHL Alumni Association is devastated to share that Claude Lemieux has passed away at the age of 60. Born in Buckingham, Quebec, Claude was selected by the Montreal Canadiens in the second round of the 1983 NHL Entry Draft and would make his NHL debut just a few months later on October 13, 1983 and scored his first career NHL goal on December 4, 1983," NHL Alumni announced.
"Internationally, Claude represented Canada on several occasions, including capturing a gold medal at the 1985 World Junior Hockey Championships and winning the 1987 Canada Cup. He was loved by his wife and four children, and on behalf of the Lemieux family, we kindly ask that everyone respect their privacy during this difficult time."
TMZ Sports is reporting that Lemieux's death came by suicide. He was just 60 years old.
"Claude Lemieux, 4x Stanley Cup-winning NHL player, died by suicide, TMZ Sports has learned. Lemieux was 60 years old," the outlet reported.
"Our sources tell us the 21-season NHL vet was found Thursday morning at a business in Florida, which is owned by his family."

"The Devils should wear a patch in honor of Claude and put him in the Ring of Honor," Frank Fleming shared.
