Daily Breeze baseball roundup: North Torrance and Rolling Hills Prep advance to CIF-SS finals
Drew Bello hit a home run and drove in two runs and Josiah Reed had a pair of hits to lead the North Torrance baseball offense in the 9-3 CIF-Southern Section Division 7 semifinal win over Santa Paula.
Sei Nagashima walked twice, was hit by a pitch, had a sacrifice fly and scored twice.
Seth Narasaki (3 2/3 innings) picked up the win. He allowed four hits, three runs and struck out three. Joey Banuelos pitched 3 1/3 innings, striking out two.
The Saxons (15-16) will be making their first CIF-SS finals appearance since 1974. The Saxons will face South El Monte in the finals, either Friday or Saturday at a location to be announced.
Rolling Hills Prep 5, Temecula Prep 3: The Huskies (11-11) scored four runs in the first inning and held on for the Division 9 semifinal win.
Samuel Lopez went 3-for-3 with two runs scored, two RBIs, a home run and stole three bases. Alex Hernandez and Jake Levin had two hits apiece. Both players had a double and an RBI.
Matthew Moyer, who also stole three bases, pitched a complete game. He allowed three runs, two earned, seven hits, walked two and struck out 11.
RHP will face Webb in the final, either Friday or Saturday, at a location to be announced.
