Welcome to the Bay Area News Group (Mercury News & East Bay Times) boys Athlete of the Week poll.
For the entire academic year, we will provide a list of candidates who stood out over the previous week and allow you, the reader, to vote for the winner.
This week, we consider performances from May 18-23.
Polls close at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
Vote as many times as you'd like until then without using bots or any other artificial methods of voting.
Votes by email and after 5 p.m. Wednesday are not counted.

Winners are announced each Friday online and in the print edition of the Mercury News and East Bay Times sports sections.
Candidates for future Athlete of the Week polls can be nominated at highschools@bayareanewsgroup.com.
We accept nominations until 11 a.m. each Monday.
We also review stats submitted to MaxPreps by coaches/team statisticians.
On to the nominees:
Djali de Chalus, St. Mary's-Berkeley track and field:The junior won the 3,200-meter race at the NCS Meet of Champions with a time of 9:10.31.
Roee Dascalo, Las Lomas track and field:The junior won the pole vault at the North Coast Section Meet of Champions with a vault of 16′ 1/2″.
Benicio Labuguen, Westmoor track and field:Labuguen won the triple jump at the CCS track and field championships with a school record leap of 48-7 ½.
Ingmar Nordberg, Northgate volleyball: The senior recorded the game-winning kill to lead the Broncos to a 3-2 win over Jesuit and push the Walnut Creek school to the state Division I title game where it will play Mira Costa.
Mark O’Grady, Burlingame baseball:O'Grady struck out three and allowed five hits in a 2-0 complete-game shutout of Leigh in the first round of the CCS Division II playoffs.
Jake Paskert, Piedmont Hills baseball:The senior had a two-run homer in Piedmont Hills' 2-1 win over Monterey in the CCS Division IV quarterfinals.
James Prater, Bishop O'Dowd track and field: Prater won the 800 at the NCS Meet of Champions, crossing the finish line in 1:53.95.
Brady Simon, Los Gatos baseball:Simon hit a walk-off three-run homer to complete a stunning 10-9 comeback win over Bellarmine in the first round of the CCS Division I playoffs.
Stephen Sziebert, Bellarmine track and field:Sziebert took first place in the 1,600 at the CCS championships, finishing in 4:09.69.
Chase Young, De La Salle track and field:Young won the 110 (13.77) and 300 (38.08) hurdles at the NCS Meet of Champions.
