Tottenham Hotspur will play their most important game of the season on the final Premier League matchday. Spurs will host Everton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Spurs will be playing without Cristian Romero, who is not in the starting lineup or on the bench.
Spurs will be playing without their captain as the Argentine defender remains injured and has yet to recover from the injury he suffered in April against Sunderland. Romero has attenetd games following his injury to support the team.
Ahead of the final match of the season against Everton today, reports suggested that Romero would travel to Argentina and stay there, meaning the defender would not be in attendance to support his team in a crucial game that means everything to the fans.
Tottenham needs a win or a draw to remain in the Premier League and avoid relegation to the EFL Championship.
Is Cristian Romero attending the Tottenham vs Everton Match?
Ahead of the match against Everton, Tottenham fans have been critical of Cristian Romero, who was rumored to stay in Argentina rather than support the team today at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi was asked about the fans' displeasure towards Romero.
When asked if he understands the fans, De Zerbi said, "100%. Not all leaders are the same. Ben Davies spoke with me, and he asked to stay today with us, and he wants to stay with the team in the Lodge in the hotel with his team-mates, but Romero is preparing for the World Cup."
Despite reports that Romero would not attend the match, Cristian Romero returned to London and will be in attendance to watch Tottenham vs Everton at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
