Kyle Busch's Haunting Post-Race Comments Surface After Sudden Death
In the days before Kyle Busch's death, the former NASCARCup Series Champion spoke into the microphone after winning the Truck Series race at Dover. Busch reflected on why it matters to win and why any driver should cherish every single win. He commented like the renowned veteran he is, and now it carries a much heavier meaning.
Busch's post-race comments did the rounds on social media this past Friday. After Busch won the Truck Series race at Dover Motor Speedway, he was asked by reporter Amanda Busick, "Why do these moments never get old, Kyle?" The response: "Because you never know when the last one is."

The comments are especially poignant as 6 days later, the NASCAR community tragically lost the 2-time NASCAR Cup Series Champion. That race win was his last across all three NASCAR series: Cup, O'Reilly Auto Parts, and Truck.

Busch's last Cup win was on June 4, 2023, at World Wide Technology Raceway 'Gateway,' the outskirts of St. Louis, Missouri.
His last O'Reilly Auto Parts Series win dates back much further, to July 10, 2021, when Busch won at Atlanta Motor Speedway. He has not raced much in this series in recent years, with only 5 starts since joining Richard Childress Racing in 2023.
"I know all too well, unfortunately... with the cup stuff," Busch remarked. Wins had not been as common for him in recent years. As noted, Busch had not won a single race in the Cup Series going on 3 years. Busch's career has been highlighted mostly by his truck racing successes in recent times, during which he has won 7 races since 2023.
In past interviews, Busch had even hinted at the possibility of wrapping up his career by running full-time in the Truck Series. The plan had always seemed to be for Busch to race until his son, 11-year-old Brexton Busch, was of age to enter the NASCAR realm. That would require Busch to have run multiple years going forward. He had even been reported to have returned to Richard Childress Racing in a renewed deal, as his contract would expire this year.
Busch's win at Dover was vintage "KFB." He led 147 of 200 total laps in the race, holding off Ty Majeski and Layne Riggs. Busch earned his 69th career Truck Series win. In comparison, Busch has won 63 Cup races and 102 in the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series. Busch will inevitably be in the Hall of Fame as an earned member.
The reactions from fans and drivers have been heartfelt and memorable. He will never be forgotten.
