Bay Area News Group girls athlete of the week: Sasha Johnson, Priory track and field
Priorytrack and field‘s Sasha Johnson is the Bay Area News Group girls athlete of the week for May 4-9.
In online voting that ended at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Johnson finished with 49.2% of the vote. Encinal softball player Cameron Tran finished second with 36.7%.
Congratulations to all the candidates for this week’s recognition.
Johnson, a junior, earned the gold medal in high jump and the silver medal in long jump at the West Bay Athletic League championships hosted at The King’s Academy in Sunnyvale. Her silver-earning jump of 16 feet, 11 1/2 inches broke the Priory school record. She has qualified to the CCS meet in Gilroy in both events.
