Florentino Pérez Confronts Angry Real Madrid Fans Amid Growing Bernabéu Unrest
Real Madrid's 2-0 win over Real Oviedo at the Santiago Bernabéu on Thursday night was overshadowed by growing tension between the club's supporters and president Florentino Pérez, with fans openly protesting during the match.
Several banners directed at Pérez were displayed in the stands before security quickly removed them, leading to angry reactions from supporters near the presidential box.
Television cameras also captured Pérez in a heated exchange with fans during the pre-match, showing the frustration currently surrounding the club after a disappointing season.
Real Madrid Fans Turn on Pérez
The atmosphere at the Bernabéu has become increasingly hostile in recent weeks following Real Madrid's failure to win a major trophy and their recent La Liga title defeat to rivals FC Barcelona.
During Thursday's match, sections of supporters jeered and booed several Madrid players, including Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior, and chanted against the club hierarchy.
The unrest came shortly after Pérez publicly confirmed that he would not resign as club president after a disappointing campaign this season.
Speaking earlier this week, the longtime Madrid chief announced new presidential elections and insisted he intends to run again.
Pérez also defended the club against what he described as outside attacks and criticized La Liga's handling of matters involving Real Madrid during a press conference at Valdebebas.
Recent Off-field problems inside the dressing room have also added to the problems around the club.
Real Madrid recently confirmed disciplinary action against Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouaméni after the pair were involved in a training-ground clash earlier this month.
Both players later apologized and were fined by the club following the incident.

Pérez also addressed the situation publicly this week, saying arguments between players happen in football but expressing anger that details of the incident were leaked to the media.
Reports on Thursday claimed the club believes it has identified the source of the dressing-room leaks.
Although Real Madrid secured all three points against Oviedo thanks to goals from Gonzalo García and Jude Bellingham, the mood around the Bernabéu made it clear that tensions between the supporters, players and club leadership remain far from resolved.
