Sophie Cunningham Supports Caitlin Clark Amid Morgan Wallen Controversy

WNBA guard Sophie Cunningham is showing support for her teammate, Caitlin Clark, amid his decision to walk out with Morgan Wallen at his concert in Indianapolis on Saturday evening.

Clark, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, walked out with Wallen at his concert on Saturday evening, hours after the Indiana Fever fell to the Dallas Wings in the regular season opener.

Wallen, one of the biggest country music stars in the world, was caught on video in 2021, saying the N-word. Wallen apologized and admitted his language was unacceptable. He said that he was in the middle of a 72-hour "bender" when it happened.

But some haven't forgotten. WNBA fans have spoken out against Clark on social media on Sunday.

"Lost a game, took a shower, and then supported an N-word user," one wrote.

"The WNBA is majority Black. This is not acceptable, Caitlin," another added.

"Two Ls in one day," one added.

"Not surprising, but not happy," one added.

Caitlin Clark's teammate comes to her defense

Caitlin Clark's teammate, Sophie Cunningham, was among those to show support for the star point guard on social media.

Cunningham, who was traded from Phoenix to Indiana before last season, is speaking out on social media.

"You bad (expletive)," she said in a complimentary way.

Clark is far from the first notable athlete or coach to walk out with Morgan Wallen at a concert. But, given her profile, it's not surprising to see this kind of reaction on social media.

It'll be interesting to see if Clark addresses any of it.
