Is MetLife Stadium On Friday? Video Has Giants, Jets Fans Concerned

We're still several months away from the start of the 2026 season, but MetLife Stadium is currently trending on social media.

People driving near MetLife Stadium this Friday saw black smoke in the distance. Naturally, that sparked concerns about the home of the New York Giants and New York Jets. Is the stadium going up in flames on a random afternoon in May?

Thankfully, the answer to that question is no. Although a concerning video is circulating online, MetLife Stadium isn't on fire. According to NJ.com's Victoria Gladstone, there was a fire in Carlstadt.

In fact, Sporting News is reporting the fire didn't actually come in contact with the massive venue in East Rutherford. Of course, that didn't stop fans from joking about the situation.

"It appears the Jets have begun their off-season workouts," one fan joked.

"It's just the Jets and Giants season preview," a second fan said. "Hope everyone is safe."

"MetLife is rejecting the grass," another fan commented.

MetLife Stadium will be quite busy this summer.

Though it's bing branded as "New York New Jersey Stadium" for the FIFA World Cup, MetLife Stadium will host eight matches this summer.

Unfortunately, the prices for MetLife Stadium's matches are a bit extreme. For example, a match between Brazil and Morocco has a get-in price of $2,148 on TicketMaster.

Once the World Cup wraps up, MetLife Stadium's staff will get everything in order for the start of the 2026 NFL season.
