Anthony Edwards Acknowledges Turning Point in Timberwolves-Spurs Series
The No. 6 seed Minnesota Timberwolves traveled to San Antonio for Game 1 of their second-round playoff series against the No. 2 seed Spurs, notching a 104-102 upset victory over Victor Wembanyama and the home team.
Anthony Edwards, who suffered a knee hyperextension and bone bruise in Round 1, returned to action in that series-opening game. Playing under a minutes restriction, the All-Star guard scored an efficient 18 points through 25 minutes - most of which came in the fourth quarter.
Game 2 told a completely different story. The Spurs dominated the Timberwolves for the entire game, ultimately tying the series with a 133-95 final score.
After the game, a reporter asked Edwards if a result like this gives the Spurs “new life” heading into Game 3 in Minnesapolis.
“Yeah, I mean they won by 40. I would have a lot of belief,” Edwards replied.

With just 12 points apiece, Edwards, Julius Randle, Jaden McDaniels and Terrence Shannon Jr. led the Timberwolves in scoring through the disappointing Game 2 loss. Edwards played just 24 minutes as the game slipped out of reach in the second half.
"I told the guys after the first game it's the natural tendency for the team that steals the first game, the away team, to get blown out in Game 2,” Edwards said postgame. "We can't come out cool and we came out cool and what happened - we got blown out."

Wembanyama finished the game with 19 points, 15 rebounds and 2 blocks. De’Aaron Fox also bounced back from a disappointing performance in Game 1, scoring 16 points. Stephon Castle led the way for the Spurs with a game-high 21 points.
Game 3 will tipoff at 9:30 p.m. ET on Friday.
