Ryan Blaney Signs Multi-Year Extension With Team Penske
Good news for all of you No. 12 fans. Ryan Blaney has revealed he has signed a new multi-year extension with Team Penske in the NASCARCup Series. Blaney was getting towards the end of his last extension, and this will ensure that Penske has their young star going into the next decade.
Ryan Blaney is the flagship driver for not just Penske right now, but Ford. He is the fastest, most consistent, and he frankly does things in the car that many in the series simply can't. When it comes to getting speed from his car and making passes in otherwise difficult positions, Blaney is the best there is.
On Wednesday morning, Blaney broke the news on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
"Just out there. Team Penske and myself have agreed to a multi-year contract extension, so I will be there for the foreseeable future," Blaney told Mike Bagley and Pete Pistone. "Really excited to get that done. It's hard to believe I walked in the doors over there in 2012, and you know, a young 18, 19 year old kid, and for someone like Roger Penske to give me an opportunity was a dream come true, and to be able to drive for him for as long as I have is just unbelievable. So, I really appreciate everything they've done for me, everything Ford has done for me.
"So, I'm excited to be part of the family for the foreseeable future. Looking forward to trying to go continue to win races, contend for championships, for RP and that whole organization. So, I owe them a lot, and really, at the end of the day, I couldn't foresee myself being anywhere else. Like, they've been an unbelievable group and a family to me and given me all the opportunities in the world, and I try to give back whenever I can. So, real excited we decided to stay together, it's an unbelievable thing. So, I owe them a lot and we're going to keep going."

This season, Ryan Blaney has a win and a pole. He's come close to winning a couple of other races, and has battled pit crew woes. However, Blaney is still one of the top drivers in the Cup Series. Now, you could argue, his skillset fits the Chase format even better than it fit the Playoffs.
Under this new extension, will Blaney and Penske become champions together once again? Or will it be hard to overcome the challenges they have internally with pit crews, and possibly with the performance of Ford overall?
