Ferriera, Salinger cap first seasons in the water at UC Santa Barbara

Arguably the best tandem to be formed while teammates in high school, Emmerson Ferriera and Miranda Salinger spent ample time in the water as true freshmen this past spring for the UC Santa Barbara water polo team.

Ferriera, Stevenson’s all-time leader in goals, was one of seven players to see action in all 20 matches for the Gauchos, finishing with six goals and three assists, while adding seven steals on defense.

Salinger, who along with Ferriera, produced over 100 goals for the Pirates during their title runs in 2023 and 2024, appeared in 13 matches, collecting two goals and three steals.

The pair led Stevenson to two Central Coast Section Division II titles, and a State Northern California Division III crown in 2024 — still the only section or state title water polo teams to come out of Monterey County.

Ferriera and Salinger became the first pair at Stevenson to record 100-plus goal seasons together twice, leading the program to three straight undefeated Gabilan Division seasons.
