South Torrance baseball clinches Pioneer League with win over North
Jonovan Talavera hit a pair of home runs and drove in five runs to lead the South Torrance baseball team to an 8-0 win over North Torrance on Thursday that clinched the Pioneer League title.
On the mound, the Spartans' Isaac Orozco allowed only one hit and struck out nine.
The Spartans improved to 18-7 overall and 11-1 in league.
Palos Verdes 4, South East 3: The Sea Kings (18-8) scored three runs in the sixth inning to win the nonleague game.
Lucas Kim had a pair of RBIs and Franco Correa and Kai Van Scoyoc had two hits apiece. Seven players each pitched one inning for the Sea Kings, and combined they allowed six hits and struck out seven.
