49ers Fans Want John Lynch Fired For Drafting De'Zhaun Stribling
It appears San Francisco 49ers fans have lost their patience with general manager John Lynch.
The 49ers were set to make their first selection in the opening round of the 2026 NFL Draft, but Lynch traded the 27th overall pick and the No. 138 overall pick to the Miami Dolphins for picks No. 30 and No. 90. A few moments later, the 49ers traded the 30th pick to the Jets in exchange for picks No. 33 and No. 179.
Although there were rumblings about the 49ers potentially trading the 33rd pick, they held their ground and selected Ole Miss wide receiver De'Zhaun Stribling.
Stribling appeared in 15 games for Ole Miss this past season, hauling in 55 passes for 811 yards and six touchdowns.
"Despite adding Mike Evans and having former first-rounder Ricky Pearsall on the roster, the 49ers lack a deep threat. That's who Stribling is, with 4.36 speed at 6-foot-2 and 207 pounds," ESPN analyst Matt Miller wrote. "This is a surprise with Denzel Boston and Germie Bernard on the board, but the scheme fit and need are legit to start Round 2."
Fans aren't fond of the pick.
Immediately after Stribling's name was called by Goodell, 49ers fans aired out their complaints on social media. Most of them are going a bit too far with their commentary.
"Fire Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch NOW," a 49ers fan said.
"Fire John lynch!!!! No way he picked him over Denzel Boston," a second fan wrote.
"If Kyle Shanahan was behind this pick, strip away his GM influence and fire John Lynch," another fan declared.
Despite all the outrage online, Lynch's job with the 49ers is quite secure.
And besides, Lynch has a few more chances to please the fan base during this year's NFL Draft.
