Why Is Harry Maguire Not Playing Tonight for Manchester United vs Chelsea?

Manchester United will be playing away from home against Chelsea in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge.

Manchester United will look to bounce back following a loss to Leeds United at Old Trafford earlier this week. The team is currently 3rd in the league with 55 points and needs a win over Chelsea to position themselves in the top five spots to qualify for the Champions League.

The team is currently without multiple defenders, including Harry Maguire, who was set to return to the sqaud after missing the Leeds United match.

Harry Maguire's last appearance for Manchester United was in the 2-2 draw with Bournemouth on March 20, 2026. Maguire started the match but received a red card in the 78th minute, which saw him face a one-match ban.

After complying with the one-match ban against Leeds United, a new investigation regarding Maguire's protest with the referee led to another match ban.

Harry Maguire's Match Ban vs Chelsea

Days after the Manchester United vs Leeds United match, the Regulatory Commission has imposed a one-match suspension and a £30,000 fine on Harry Maguire.

Fourth official Matt Donohue, during the Bournemouth vs Manchester United match, stated that Maguire was "acting in an improper manner."

Maguire is not injured and is expected to be back with the squad for the next Premier League match against Brentford on April 27.

Manchester United is also missing Lisandro Martinez due to suspension after he received a red card against Leeds United. Leny Yoro, Matthijs De Ligt, and Patrick Dorgu are injured and are ruled out against Chelsea.
