Report: Options Dwindling For Cowboys Star Brandon Aubrey

The Dallas Cowboys haven't had to worry about their kicking game ever since they acquired Brandon Aubrey, but there has been some tension between the two sides this offseason.

Aubrey has been outstanding since joining the Cowboys in 2023, making 112 of 127 field goal attempts. The former Major League Soccer player has excelled from distance for "America's Team," knocking down 35 field goals from at least 50 yards out.

Although it may not have been his preferred choice, Aubrey received the second-round tender from the Cowboys this offseason.

"Obviously the tender is what the Cowboys have talked about, and it's a good problem to have," Aubrey said, via Joseph Hoyt of the Dallas Morning News. "It's a good amount of money, and it's a big pay raise from before, but it's not the ideal for any player. We'll see what happens. I'm excited to be in this position. It's an opportunity for me so I'm thankful for that."

Since Aubrey is a restricted free agent, he's got the ability to sign an offer sheet with another team. However, he's running out of time to gain leverage against the Cowboys.

Dallas is still in the driver's seat.

The deadline for restricted free agents to receive an offer sheet is this Friday.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, there aren't any other options on the table right now for Aubrey. That means he'll most likely return to Dallas for the 2026 season.

"Cowboys restricted free agent kicker Brandon Aubrey has until Friday to sign an offer sheet with another team; if he doesn't, Dallas retains his rights for the 2026 season," Schefter said. "With time running out and no offer forthcoming, Aubrey now looks destined to remain with Dallas in 2026."

Aubrey is set to make $5.81 million for the 2026 season. If he continues to play at a Pro Bowl level, he'll put himself in position to earn a massive payday in the spring of 2027.
