Boycott Common Core testing

Last year, 200,000 parents in New York opted their children out of Common Core aligned testing and New York activists plan to double those number this year.

This year, Alaska identified parents opting out of tests as the No. 1 threat to Alaskan education, and due to technology issues coupled with the neglect to inform parents of their right to opt of testing (required by the Every Student Succeeds Act), Alaska suspended its tests.

All over the country, parents are fed up with being ignored by a government education system. They are exercising a parent’s right, and even civil duty, to refuse testing.

The Supreme Court has repeatedly held that parents possess the fundamental right to direct the upbringing and education of their children, and “that the child is not the mere creature of the State: those who nurture him and direct his destiny have the right coupled with the high duty to recognize and prepare him for additional obligations.”

I urge you to join the movement and boycott the Common Core aligned tests in California, which will be administered to your public school children starting this month.
