Our toxic political stew
This year is shaping up to be perhaps one of the most toxic political campaigns ever.
Whatever your political stand, we as established voters and those who may be voting for the first time are being subjected to bullying, name-calling and whatever else will be thrown into the fray.
If winning an election by bullying, making derogatory remarks about others, or quoting “2 Corinthians” is a benchmark to become president, then we have serious problems.
Any president who leads by these scare tactics will create an atmosphere of a ticking bomb that will destroy us. Other nations’ leaders will not want to sit at a table with us if threatened by a belligerent child who can’t have his way. Tyranny at its best!
The death of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia has even become political. Rather than condolences being extended to the Scalia family at this most difficult time, the candidates are using his death as a weapon to win. Surely we are better than this.
