Armenians should relax, enjoy being Americans
Another whine about the Armenian Genocide as related to the Confederate Flag issue: I can’t equate the two. The Confederate flag is totally an American issue that happened on American soil. The Armenian Genocide happened on Armenian soil.
Would Armenian people living in America jeopardize our American peaceful ties to Turkey, jeopardize their freedom here, just so their new homeland would recognize a tragedy 100 years ago not of our government’s doing?
Do they want our government to pay them for the tragedy, not of our making, like we did for the Japanese who were interred here on our soil?
I don’t understand why citizens of Armenian heritage can’t relax, enjoy their new country and the freedoms we have here.
My father’s ancestors are from Bohemia, a portion of southern Poland. I don’t claim any part of their culture or tragedies. I’m just so grateful for my homeland, America.
