Stop support of Saudis’ heinous actions in Yemen

In this April, 13 file photo, Yemenis present documents in order to receive food rations provided by a local charity, in Sanaa, Yemen. The Saudi assault on Yemen is a terrible crime which must be condemned. The Saudis have blockaded the whole country and killed thousands of innocent people in bombings and continue to do so. Thousands more have died of famine and a cholera outbreak, while 2.5 million have been internally displaced.

As an Ahmadi Muslim, it is especially distressing as Saudis pride themselves as an Islamic country but act without remorse or mercy against their own neighbors. Islam teaches that all believers are brothers, united and to love our neighbors.Saudis give no regard to this when crushing a neighboring Muslim country.

As an American, I am aghast at our government’s continued support of this slaughter. It has armed Saudi Arabia with weapons and intelligence for years, despite its human-rights violations. Our officials continue to support them even when they invade and brutalize Yemen.

I call upon our leaders and those of other nations to act with justice in the world and not support such heinous actions in order to protect innocent people.
