GOP tax reform is ‘poppycock’
Poppycock! That’s what the Trump/Republicans’ “tax reform” proposal is. All “smoke and mirrors”! It recommends cutting the corporate tax rate from 35 percent to 20 percent; getting rid of the “estate tax” and the “alternative minimum tax.” All these plans will make the rich even richer (and remember, most of our Congressmen are millionaires).
Then they throw Mr. and Mrs. Average Joe a bone: a projected tax savings of maybe $1,000 a year. The Republicans have sold us over the years on the idea that giving the rich tax breaks will create jobs. What would really create jobs is finding ways to give Mr. and Mrs. Average Joe more money (significantly lower taxes; help paying for medical care; assistance, where needed, with housing needs and buying food.)
Buying more stuff is what really stimulates the economy. Trump says that the reduction in corporate taxes from will enable employers to give big raises to all their employees. If you think that’s what the rich are going to do with all their extra money, I have a bridge in Brooklyn I’d like to sell you! And, how is “the largest tax cut in history” going help reduce the deficit?
