Trump proves himself politically inept

In the Feb. 26 story, “Sticking by President Trump,” several people said they liked that he is not a politician and politically correct, liked his promised tax cuts, and were encouraged by his performance so far.

Let’s look at the record. Trump may not be a politician and not politically correct, but he is proving to be politically inept. Trump promised huge tax cuts for the wealthy but much smaller cuts for the middle class.

Several cabinet nominations were narrowly confirmed on straight party-line votes, and one nominee was forced to pull his name even before a vote. His first national security adviser was forced to resign after only a few weeks on the job. Trump’s first executive order regarding immigration was declared to be unconstitutional by the federal courts. He wants to replace Obamacare, but Trump admitted that he had no idea how complicated it would be.

The potential involvement of the Russians in the Trump campaign is an evolving story. It must be obvious to anyone without partisan blinders that, by any standard, Trump is woefully unprepared to assume the responsibilities of the presidency.
