Tom Hanks not coming to Kerman High homecoming, but makes short video
Tom Hanks won’t attend Kerman High School’s homecoming next week as some had hoped – but he did film a short video for the students.
The video will be shown at the homecoming football game Oct. 9.
Kerman students chose Hanks’ films – like hits “Big” and “Forrest Gump” – as the homecoming theme. They have designed floats based on iconic scenes from the movies.
Kerman High made national headlines when the movie star Tweeted about the school’s efforts in August.
“Gear up, Kerman High School for Homecoming! I’m working on something for the Festivities! Hanx,” the Tweet said.
According to school officials, Hanks has a connection to Kerman High School: His second cousin used to work there.
Tickets will be sold in advance of the game, and parking is available for a fee at the school, at lots at Highway180 and 1st Street and at Kerman Covenant Church. There also will be a free shuttle service from St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and Kerman Covenant Church to the stadium.
