Fresno man who taught at Caruthers school faces child porn charges
A Fresno man who was employed as a teacher in Caruthers was arrested Wednesday in connection with possession of child pornography, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Gregory Carr, 46, was arrested following an investigation by members of an internet task force that targets child pornography.
Detectives got a search warrant and took evidence from Carr’s northwest Fresno home in the 1600 block of West Ellery Way on Aug. 11, sheriff’s spokesman Tony Botti said. Detectives seized personal electronic devices that they said contained images of child pornography.
Carr taught at Caruthers Elementary School and also volunteered at a Fresno church. Botti said there is no evidence that Carr abused children at either place.
In a news release, the Caruthers Unified School District said it was aware of the investigation and placed Carr on leave Aug. 12, after the warrant was served at his home. Carr taught seventh and eighth grade and worked at the school for more than 20 years.
