Gun found in car after man pulled over in southwest Fresno, police say
A man was arrested in southwest Fresno early Tuesday morning after officers conducting a traffic stop found a semi-automatic handgun inside the vehicle, police said.
Angel Ray Sconiers, 18, of Fresno, was booked into Fresno County Jail around 12:30 a.m. in Fresno’s Chinatown District near Inyo street.
Officers had been policing the area more frequently due to violent gang activity when they pulled over Sconiers for an expired vehicle registration. Officers then learned Sconiers was driving without a license or insurance.
When he was asked to get out of the car, Sconiers “became very nervous and started to reach toward his waistband,” police say.
Officers quickly detained Sconiers, and upon searching the vehicle found a semi-automatic .25 caliber handgun on the driver’s seat.
