Gang member on bike shot on Orange Avenue
A 31-year-old man was shot Tuesday afternoon in the Calwa area, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said.
The man was riding his bike on Orange Avenue about 4 p.m. when someone pulled up beside him and shot him, hitting him in the upper body. He was rushed to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno with what were described as life-threatening injuries. Wednesday, sheriff’s spokesman Tony Botti said his status had been upgraded to stable.
Deputies were checking nearby businesses for potential witnesses. And the sheriff’s office released a photo of the suspect’s car.
The victim is a known gang member and was uncooperative with law enforcement, Botti said.
The Sheriffs Office is asking anyone with information to call 559-600-3111. Tips can also be shared anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers at 559-498-7867.
