Two held after Fresno home invasion robbery
Two men were arrested early Friday after a home invasion robbery at a North Blackstone Avenue motel, Fresno police reported.
The incident occurred shortly before 5 a.m. on the 6000 block of Blackstone. As officers arrived to check a report of a woman screaming, a man and a woman ran out of a room, shouting that they had been robbed.
Lt. Joe Gomez said the officers entered the room and found a man who appeared to be assaulting a woman. The apparent assailant ducked into a bathroom as the woman ran outside.
The men, identified as Paul Weatherson, 34, and Kevin Downs, 45, were taken into custody. Gomez said the two forced their way into the room and demanded cash and jewelry. Officers recovered two firearms, one of which the pair tried to hide in a toilet tank. The men were booked on weapons and home invasion charges.
