Body found by farmworkers in canal near Biola
A body was found Thursday by farmworkers in a canal near Biola, west of Fresno, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said.
Farmworkers were planting trees around 3 p.m. when one of them spotted a body inside the dry bed of a nearby canal near Barstow and Floyd avenues, spokesman Tony Botti said. The body appeared to be of a Hispanic man in his 40s or 50s.
Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators were collecting evidence at the scene, Botti said. A cause of death or whether foul play was involved won’t be determined until coroners looked at his body.
No further information was immediately available.
