Teen victim of central Fresno shooting

A 19-year-old man was shot walking down the street near San Pablo and Englewood avenues in central Fresno on Thursday, Fresno police reported.

Police received multiple calls about shots fired in the area around 8 p.m., Lt. Ron Hughes said.

Officers canvasing the area found a wounded victim, who had nonlife-threatening injuries to his lower extremities.

“We’ve located several shell casings in the roadway,” said Hughes. “We’re also canvassing the nearby neighborhood for any witnesses.”

The victim was unable to provide a description of the shooter, and detectives are working to find leads, Hughes said. Police do not believe the shooting was gang-related.
