Man in critical condition after central Fresno shooting
A man is in critical condition after a shooting in central Fresno on Wednesday, Fresno police Lt. Joe Alvarez said.
Officers were patrolling in the area of Shields and Fruit avenues just before 7 p.m. when they heard shots fired, and a passerby flagged them down about a shooting victim.
Officers quickly formed a perimeter around the victim on the corner of Shields and Vagedes avenues.
Officers have a suspect detained while they search the area for the gun, Alvarez said. The victim was transported to Community Regional Medical Center and is in critical but stable condition.
The motive is unknown, but police do not believe the shooting was gang-related.
