Two victims are fortunate to be alive after surviving a drive-by shooting Tuesday night in central Fresno, Lt. Dave Ramos of the Fresno Police Department said.

The driver of the vehicle shot at was grazed in the arm, and the female passenger was unharmed after reports of shots fired came in around 9:44 p.m. at the parking lot of the Carl’s Jr. on the corner of Blackstone and McKinley avenues, Ramos said.

The victim was pulling into the Carl’s Jr. lot when a black SUV opened fire on their vehicle, striking the car. The victim then drove his car down the street, westbound on McKinley Avenue before stopping at the parking lot on the Fresno City College campus near the faculty office building.

Approximately 16 shell casings from a handgun were recovered on scene.

Ramos says there was heavy traffic on the street when shots were fired, and that there may be several witnesses investigators hope to interview.
