Porterville trio arrested in shooting that injured three
Three Porterville men were arrested on weapons charges after three people were wounded in New Year’s Eve gunfire, police said.
Erik Alcantar, 24, Martin Alcantar, 23, and Jose Contreras, 37, were booked into the Tulare County Jail after police were dispatched to a home in the 1200 block of West Date Avenue in Porterville just after midnight on Jan. 1 regarding a shooting.
Two of the three victims were shot in the legs and transported to a local hospital, while the third victim was treated at the scene for non-lethal injuries.
Police traced the gunshots to the 1300 block of West Roby Avenue. They contacted the three suspects, who admitted to firing a weapon in the direction of the victims’ home just prior to midnight on Dec. 31.
