Porterville homeowner holds burglars at gunpoint, police say

A Porterville man held two suspects at gunpoint when they tried to burglarize his house Monday.

The suspects broke into the house around 7:30 a.m. in the 1100 block of West Morton Avenue, police said.

When the homeowner was awakened, he got his gun and held the suspects at gunpoint until police arrived.

Police arrested Xochitl Gonzalez, 40, Porterville, and a 13-year-old juvenile.

Police said several windows were broken, but nobody was injured.

Gonzalez was booked at the Tulare County Pre-Trial Facility for burglary of an inhabited dwelling and child endangerment.

She is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
