Reedley police investigate fatal shooting
Police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened Sunday night in the parking lot at Reedley Beach.

The shooting took place about 8:50 p.m. Officers responding to a shots-fired call found Alaniz with a head wound and a woman nearby with a non-life threatening head injury. Officers gave CPR but were not able to revive Alaniz, Garza said.
Witnesses told officers that the incident erupted when someone got out of a vehicle and confronted Alaniz. Words were exchanged and the shooter fired a weapon and then fled in the vehicle. Police are not releasing information about the suspect or the vehicle. It is the first homicide of the year in Reedley.
