A former Coalinga woman was arrested Thursday on suspicion of embezzling money from an insurance company and its customers, the Coalinga Police Department said.

After a three-year investigation, police caught up with Araceli Salinas, 41, in Santa Ana where they arrested her.

In November 2012, investigators looked into allegations of embezzlement by a local insurance agent at Farmers Insurance in Coalinga. When the case was handed over to police, they found that Salinas embezzled tens of thousands of dollars, police say.

The Fresno County District Attorney’s Office issued a warrant for Salinas on March 18, but discovered she’d moved to Southern California.

Coalinga detectives located Salinas in Santa Ana and took her to the Irvine Police Department and she was booked on embezzlement charges.

Police are asking anyone with information on this case to contact Sgt. Alex Rouch at arouch@coalinga.com
