Fresno man behind bars — again — on burglary, theft charges

A Fresno gang member behind bars for allegedly robbing a shoe store in southeast Fresno had unrelated charges added to his record this week after police obtained video surveillance allegedly showing him stealing items from a Walmart in January and February.

Fresno police Sgt. Mark Hudson said Emilio Mancia allegedly stole three computers, a lawn mower and other merchandise from the Walmart on the 5100 block of East Kings Canyon Road in southeast Fresno. Detectives are asking the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office to file grand theft charges against Mancia because the estimated total value of the items is more than $1,600.

Mancia was previously arrested for robbing Warehouse Shoe Store, on the 4700 block of East Kings Canyon Road, on Jan. 7. Hudson said Mancia fought with security guards before he was arrested.

Hudson said Mancia has been arrested numerous times — every year since 1996 except in 2004, when he was incarcerated — on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, robbery, auto theft, burglary and grand theft.
