A man who allegedly broke into a bicycle shop in a bid to steal a $2,100 bicycle early Tuesday was arrested after an early morning chase in north Fresno.
Police Lt. Joe Gomez said officers went to Herb Bauer’s in the 6200 block of North Blackstone Avenue just before 6 a.m. to investigate an activated burglary alarm. They saw the suspect, Justin Breitwieser, 36, with the bicycle.
Breitwieser dropped the bicycle, jumped a fence and ran into an industrial complex, where he was apprehended, Gomez said.
The suspect was assisted by two people who smashed a window to get into the shop. Officers found a two-way radio they believe was used by a lookout.
Breitwieser was injured while running from officers and was taken to a hospital. He was held on charges of probation violation, possession of burglary tools, burglary and possession of hypodermic syringes.
The other suspects remain at large.
