Armed robber tries to bike away from Visalia hot dog stand with cash but runs into cops
A robber tried to stick up historic Taylor Brothers Hot Dogs stand in Visalia on Friday night but was caught soon after he pedaled away on his bicycle, police said.
Sgt Bill Diltz reported that the robbery happened about 9:25 p.m. at the 65-year-old walk-up stand on Encina Street in downtown Visalia. The robber, later identified as 29-year-old Joseph Morales, approached wearing a ski mask and pointed a gun at the employees, demanding money from the cash drawer. Police responding to the call spotted Morales and recovered the money and the gun. He was booked on suspicion of armed robbery.
