Visalia bicyclist in his 90s killed in crash with driver in his 90s

A man in his 90s who was bicycling on a Visalia street was hit and killed Monday morning by a pickup driver who was also in his 90s, the Visalia Police Department reported.

The accident happened just after 9 a.m. on Santa Fe Street just north of Monte Vista Avenue.

John Havekost, 91, of Visalia, was pulling a trailer with his 1997 Dodge pickup when his truck collided with a bicycle being ridden by Robert Seymour, 92, also of Visalia, police said.

Seymour was taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Havekost was not injured.

The accident is under investigation, police said.
