Fresno police Chief Jerry Dyer briefed the media Feb. 26, 2016, after Fresno police fired shots at a weapons suspect who they say refused to drop a handgun. The suspect, Daniel Telles, allegedly pointed a gun at two occupants of a car, then was confronted by plainclothes officers who were wearing tactical vests that identified them as police. He fled, then was confronted again, this time by uniformed officers. When he did not follow police commands to drop his gun, the officers opened fire. Telles was not hit, and was arrested.
