Man shoots himself in neck at Fresno gun range

A man shot himself in the neck Monday during target practice at a shooting range, Fresno police said.

Police were dispatched to The Range Pistol Club, 5151 N. Gates Ave. Club staff provided medical aid to the 52-year-old man.

The man had a single gunshot wound on the left side of his neck, below the ear.

Emergency Medical Services rushed the man to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment. He was in critical but stable condition. Police said it appeared the man would survive.

Police said they don’t know whether the man accidentally shot himself or if the shooting was a suicide attempt. Officers on scene around 2 p.m. were investigating.
